Making things happen
‘Making things happen’ seems to be the philosophy in this modern day and age. Most of us are chasing our goals, day in and day out. It’s natural for the human kind to want to progress. In fact, without progress we don’t grow, and without growth we don’t feel truly fulfilled or alive.
It is not rocket science that the bigger our goals are the more satisfied, and perhaps also relieved, we are when we achieve them. However, it doesn’t take long until the feeling of satisfaction wears off and is replaced by a quest of finding out ‘what’s next’. Some of us even go as far as to say that they ‘feel lost’ only shortly after achieving their goal and until they figure out for themselves what to focus on next.
Wanting to make things happen is hardwired in us.
Pursuing our desires is meant to make us feel happy, fulfilled and alive. It was never meant to cause us stress, worry, anxiety, fear, depression or result in death. Yet, as a society, we have trained ourselves to focus on achieving ever expanding results at all cost rather than being kind to ourselves, enjoying the journey and having fun on the way to making our desires reality.
Stress is a factor in five out of the six leading causes of death — heart disease, cancer, stroke, lower respiratory disease, and accidents. An estimated 75 percent to 90 percent of all doctor visits are for stress-related issues. – Huffington Post
Alignment before action
Do you remember the last time you were on board of a plane? Do you remember the demonstration of the airline stewards? Did they say to put on the mask on your children first in case of cabin pressure drop? No, they didn’t! They made it very clear to put on your own mask first before helping anybody else, including your children. They know that you cannot be truly helpful to others without looking after yourself first.
Aligning yourself with your true potential is a crucial step in the healthy pursuit of your goals.
Aligning yourself with your potential means that you take the time to prepare yourself on an emotional and energetic level. It means that you fill yourself up first before you give. It means that you change your perspective and focus on what you want most from a place of empowerment, belief and certainty. And from this place, what you want happens much faster, smoother, easier. When you are aligned with your potential you even dare to have some fun along the way!
It doesn’t take much to align yourself, yet, at the same time, it can take a lot of mental focus and practice to an untrained mind. Alignment is all about feeling good when you think of what you want, it’s about allowing every cell of your body to experience the feeling of excitement, joy and satisfaction you will feel once you get what you want. And the easiest and quickest way to elicit those feelings is by either vividly visualising your success or remembering a success which makes you feel equally excited. The key is to make this a daily ritual. And once you do, this practice alone will make you more positive, resilient and inspired to pursue what’s important to you.
Key steps to true success – inside out
STEP #1 – Visualise your success
Keep visualising your success in all its detail and glory. This will make you feel better and increase your belief in all things possible. This in turn will make you tap massive potential and lead you to taking inspired action.
STEP #2 – Take inspired action
Inspired action comes from a place of alignment where you feel eager, passionate and enthusiastic to take a specific step. When you feel inspired, do not delay taking the action!
STEP #3 – Learn from perceived mistakes & failures
Adjust your strategy in the pursuit of your goals by learning from your perceived mistakes or failures. But do not allow what you think didn’t work for you to bring you down. Learn from it and move on. Remember that life happens for us not to us.
STEP #4 – Celebrate your successes
Make it a habit to celebrate the things which are working out for you. Explicitly acknowledging our successes helps us to feel good, it raises our energy and reinforces the belief in ourselves and in the certainty of our progress.

You ask some important questions here, Sonja. I have been ‘pushing’ myself throughout my entire life. I had success to some degree, but have sacrificed my health and precious time with my family. There must be another way. What you talk about in this blog strongly resonates with me. I will shift my focus on the 4 steps and see where it takes me. Thank you.
Hi Stefanie, I’m glad you find this blog useful. Really pleased to see that you are willing to give these steps a go. Applying them consistently will make the difference you are looking for. 🙂
